Trans Women in Sports

I have had many thoughts about trans people in sports. I feel like trans women competing in the same sports as cis women is always going to be controversial. If the trans women win the sports then the cis women will cry “No fair! You have an advantage because you used to be male!” regardless of what the science says or not. If they lose sports then the cis women will probably not complain as much but then the career of trans women athletes ends because there isn’t a separate trans sports league and they probably won’t win in men’s sports either due to the physical changes of their transition even if they still tried that.

I’m not going to make statements about the science that I don’t have the knowledge of but what I can tell you is that I myself am a transwoman and although I had my testicles surgically removed two years ago and I’ve been on estrogen for a long time, I still have far more strength than all the cis females who work in the floral department. There are times when I can really assist the others in my job because of the heavy buckets and boxes I can lift. I enjoy this small aspect of the physical advantage because I am helping and not competing with anyone.

I would never dream of competing in sports against cis women even if I was allowed and if I was ever good at sports to begin with because I do not want to fuel the hate of people who already hate transgender people. There is enough of that and I don’t want to make it worse. And my own experience suggests that it would not be fair in any sport where arm strength played a major role.
